Hobby Weed is about growing weed as a hobby in Colorado, for us, where every home is now allowed up to six plants.Each person (2 person limit) in the household 21 and over can have 3 plants in vegetation and 3 in flower.
Not bagging on the despensaries, who are selling quantity over quality, we focus on QUALITY. This weed is grown for the smoker, not the seller. Since this is the case, it makes this weed very special. You can only get it from a grower. Beware, all growers are not the same! If you have had 'Homegrown' from back in the day, you really need to check 'Hobby Weed'.
About Us & Our Seeds
Pops has been smoking for many years. During the 1980s thru the early 1990's he saved seeds from the top strains at the time. Some of the strains he kept seeds from include:

In the early 1990's, he began cultivating these seeds and quickly learned how to cross bread these strains. Initially, he would check the plants gender, when a male was found, it's pollen was harvested and used to pollinate the other strains. This worked, but the gender of the seeds were unknown.
In 2018 he found a better way to create pollen, forcing a female to generate her own pollen. This caused all seeds generated by the host plant to provide feminized seeds. The female plant will react with a solution when applied on a daily basis. The solution forces the female to generate pollen, feminized pollen! Feminized seeds are specially bred to eliminate male chromosomes, so they produce only female plants rather than male and female marijuana plants.
In 2019 he forced a female Godfather OG to create pollen. He then started some of the seeds from the 80's & 90's strains (Listed above) and let them begin to flower. In the 2nd week of flower, after the pistels have formed, he lifted the Godfather OG (Converted to provide pollen) and using a fan, we shook the Godfather OG in front of the fan, blowing all the pollen onto the other females. It was just a matter of time before the Old School plants were completed budding. We then began to harvest the seeds.
Since then, we have grown these seeds. The initial pollen produced thousands of seeds over the 11 old school seeds we pollinated. Each of these plants took on the density and bud size of the Godfather OG, but also maintained some of their original traits. This worked so good, he did it again, this time using Durban Kush and Gorilla Glue.
We have achieved THC levels above 32% with these strains. NOTE: It makes a difference how you grow your weed. We recommend using a hydro setup, which requires an air pump, I used a fish aquarium pump in the 90's, a net pot, some hydronton and rockwool. Nutrients are important as well.
In that time, he’s tested out countless growing methods, nutrients, equipment, and approaches to the art of growing cannabis. His experiences include super cropping, pruning, drying and curing.

Why Hydro?
Have you seen cannabis plants growing with their roots just floating in a reservoir of water? This type of hydroponics is known as Deep Water Culture (DWC), and has been around for over a 100 years! As more growers gain experience with this medium, DWC has become increasingly popular for growing cannabis. Hydroponic setups are really neat and offer some big benefits over growing in soil!
FACTS: Plants grown in a hydroponic reservoir grow faster in the vegetative stage, resulting in bigger yields and faster harvests. Hydroponic buds are more potent.. Kind Bud. Once a hydroponic reservoir is set up, it does not take a lot of work or time to maintain. Instead of regularly watering plants and removing runoff, a hydro reservoir only requires you dip a PH Pen and top off with more water or adjust as needed.
